Abhishek Banerjee Alleges Attack on Kolkata Residence, Claims Stone Pelting and Firing
Abhishek Banerjee alleges BJP supporters attacked his Kolkata residence with stones and fired shots at 2 am. His claims follow allegations of suspicious surveillance, while Dilip Ghosh dismisses the accusations.
Abhishek Banerjee took to social media platform X and claimed that his residence was attacked at around 2 am. He alleged that BJP supporters targeted his house in the presence of Kolkata Police. Along with stone pelting, the TMC MP also alleged that shots were fired during the incident.
In his post, Banerjee took a swipe at the Calcutta High Court and the Supreme Court, accusing both courts of remaining silent spectators over the matter. He also said that he would share videos related to the incident soon.
The allegations came a day after Banerjee raised concerns about suspicious activities around his residence and office. On November 6, he posted on X claiming that unidentified people riding motorcycles had been conducting reconnaissance around his house and office for the previous two days.
According to Banerjee, when these individuals were questioned, they identified themselves as police personnel. He also shared the motorcycle's registration number and questioned why the state police were monitoring the residence and office of an elected Member of Parliament.
He sought clarification about who had authorised the alleged surveillance and what its purpose was. Banerjee also questioned who had sent the individuals and whose instructions they were following.
After I released the recce video this morning, my house was attacked just now, at 2 AM by BJP goons, right under the watch of the Kolkata police. Thank you, Calcutta High Court and the Supreme Court of India for remaining mute spectators while all this unfolds. I will upload the videos shortly.

The TMC MP had drawn the attention of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, the Union Home Ministry, Kolkata Police and West Bengal Police to the matter. He demanded that the identities of the suspicious individuals be established and that an investigation determine who had deployed them and under whose directions they were operating.
The developments over two consecutive days have brought the political confrontation between the BJP and TMC in West Bengal back into focus. However, the allegations of an attack and firing at Banerjee's residence have not been confirmed by the police.
Reacting to Banerjee's claim of an attack, West Bengal minister Dilip Ghosh commented on the incident in New Town. He said that he had seen a political leader's birthday being celebrated on a footpath for the first time. He added that if someone creates a disturbance, they should also expect a response.
#WATCH | New Town: On TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee's claim that his residence was attacked, West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh says, "This is the first time we’ve seen a politician’s birthday being celebrated on the footpath. If someone creates a disturbance, there is bound to be a backlash. Besides, who has the time to kill Abhishek Banerjee? There is nothing left for them to say or do, so they are attempting to mislead people by bringing up this issue..."

Ghosh also questioned who would have the time to kill Abhishek Banerjee. Taking a swipe at the TMC, he alleged that the party had nothing left to say or do and was raising the issue to mislead people.
The exchange of allegations and counter-allegations has further intensified the political friction between the BJP and TMC, while questions surrounding the alleged surveillance and the reported late-night attack remain unresolved.
